Back in November, U2 front man, Bono was involved in a “high-energy bicycle accident when he attempted to avoid another rider.” The accident resulted in 3 surgeries to his hand and arm. He had 3 metal plates and 18 screws put in his arm. He also fractured his eye socket. He was given a good prognosis of a full recovery with intensive therapy after the surgeries.
But, now Bono is not so sure that will be the case. Bono made a statement New Year’s Day on the band’s website entitled “Little Book of a Big Year: Bono’s A to Z of 2014”:
“Recovery has been more difficult than I thought. As I write this, it is not clear that I will ever play guitar again. The band have reminded me that neither they nor Western civilization are depending on this.”
Bono has canceled all of his public appearances for the first half of this year, and is unsure of being able to perform in U2’s 2015 tour scheduled to begin in May. This saddens Bono to lose the ability to be able to do what he’s most passionate about; play his music.
Only time will tell if Bono will be able to perform with U2 ever again, or even if he’ll ever play the guitar. If he can’t, what will Bono do?
