This country is 238 years old because men and women of the military have protected it from abroad. Let us never forget the men and women of law enforcement who have protected us from within. It doesn’t matter if they patrol our streets or work in an office at the FBI. This nation could never survive without each and every one of them. They are not perfect because they are human. They make mistakes just like the rest of us. There are a few bad apples just like any other organization. Those bad apples don’t last, and get weeded out. I have had a run in with a few having a bad day. They didn’t go to work that day looking to write me a ticket. They don’t go to work hoping to arrest someone. They deal with nightmares just like my fellow Marines. Police are killed in the line of duty while protecting us from crime. So I am grateful to all of them who put it on the line.
They have to deal with the bad side of people every day. They go to work and are the first to be called when someone needs help. They are the first to be yelled at when someone gets in trouble. They leave their kids at home, and patrol the streets protecting ours. These men and women love this country, and will be on the front lines when crap hits the fan. It sickens me that we have community leaders preaching hate towards cops. These are the same people who will call 911 when they feel unsafe. Cops are not babysitters they are protectors of our way of life. Police officers will be the first running into a school when our kids are in danger. An hour later they will be helping someone’s grandmother who locked her keys in the car.
Most cops live in a war zone when they go to work. You never know what’s going on in the mind of others? I knew A police officer in Virginia that was shot in the chest by a 77-year-old white woman that had lost her mind. If you get pulled over today she is not going to put her guard down for you. She is one of the nicest people you will ever meet once you get to know her. But when she is on the job she wants to go home in one piece. I blame the media for only showing cops when they have done something wrong. The only time they praise any cop is when they go to one’s funeral.
I know there are bad cops out there, but the good ones are never seen. I remember the whole town of Boston cheering for the cops after they stopped the marathon bombers. Every time we go to a bank without being robbed. All the times we have gone to a store without getting into a gunfight. It’s because the men and women of law enforcement protect this country from within. With that, I give thanks to the men and women of law enforcement. Thank each of you for your service to this country and our family… Your country loves you no matter what Al Sharpton says… God Bless each and everyone, Shep #Marine4Truth
