Amazing what happens when Barack Obama is asked an actual question and not lobbed a softball. At the G-7 conference in Germany on Monday, an eager reporter got up and asked him what the strategy is for beating the Islamic State and Obama answered thus:

“We don’t yet have a complete strategy.” Of course not, Obama. That would involve actually going over there and doing some actual fighting, not just dropping equipment that ISIS is appropriating, and training troops who have no desire to fight.
“When a finalized plan is presented to me by the Pentagon, then I will share it with the American people,” he said. “We don’t yet have a complete strategy because it requires commitments on the part of the Iraqis as well about how recruitment takes place, how that training takes place. So the details of that are not yet worked out.”
Commitments on the part of the Iraqis…are these the same people who abandoned our Humvees and fighter jets that the Islamic State is now using? The army that cut and ran? We have to train them faster so that they can desert more quickly? Oh, yeah, that’s going to work.
Seriously, other than taking out the ISIS headquarters du jour when one jihadi just took too many selfies, posted them on social media and the Air Force managed to pin point their location, resulting in BOOM!…uh, what significant progress? The jihadis are taking land at will, rolling up to significant historical sites and either using them for evil or destroying them, beheading Christians at an unreal rate, and glorifying their progress with video. That is not progress in “fighting” ISIS let alone degrading and destroying them.
This is why we need a real president, not a drone jockey who impresses the salon set by being elegant in a suit.
